Trevor Bauer Top-3 Pitching Sequence Series

Three linked pitching drills that train proper kinetic sequencing (hip → shoulder → arm), lower-half posture, and rotational connection for velocity and command.

Duration:
About 12 min

Coaching notes

Pec Sequence forces hip-first rotation. Static 45 Skier links upper body to lower-half drive. Posture Squat builds deep lower-half posture and hip rotation into the throw.

Objectives

Install correct sequencing and timing; improve lower-half posture and drive; increase efficient rotational velocity.

Coaching cues

Hip first, then shoulder, then arm; stay in the legs; drive the back hip; keep the glove side firm and connected.

Common errors

Shoulder or arm initiating the rotation; early front-side collapse; standing up out of the squat; disconnecting the core.

Steps

  1. 1. Pec Sequence: place ball on pec, rotate hip first so the shoulder and arm follow in sequence.
  2. 2. Static 45 Skier: split stance, back foot 45°, heel up; load glove side and drive the rear hip.
  3. 3. Posture Squat: feet wider than shoulders, deep squat, glove side out; lift front leg, rotate rear hip and throw.
